Lonely Violinist

The other day my wife and I were at an outdoor shopping center near our home. There was this fellow playing the violin to anyone who would listen. Sad for him, there were few people there. Lucky for me, there were few people there so I was able to capture this pretty cool image. I love the long shadow and the silhouette created by the setting sun.

Father and Daughter

I caught this moment as we were hurrying over to Space Mountain. This dad with his precious little "pixie" were on their way to have more fun in Fantasyland. Of course this was early in the day. I'm not sure how much fun it was as the day wore on and she got more tired!

Barcelona

I love the expression on the face of the man. This was outside the old Gothic Cathedral in Barcelona.

Boy in a Fountain

It was even more fun photographing this fountain after this little boy climbed in it and posed for me!

Two Boys by a Fountain

I was taking some wedding pictures at the Provo Temple when I saw these two boys by the fountain. I just thought the shot was fun.

Drummer at EPCOT

This guy was part of a crazy, but very entertaining drum group that performed on the street at EPCOT Center. I used a fast shutter speed to catch the action. I like the reflection in his glasses.

Colleen

I took this picture of Colleen 38 years ago (three years before we were married). We were walking in Provo Canyon near the Sundance turnoff down by the river. She picked this little weed and looked down at it. The sun was behind her creating this perfect effect. I told her to freeze while I took a meter reading off her face (in the shadow) and snapped this shot. As I remember, it was the last exposure on the roll. I have always loved this picture and have had it framed and hanging somewhere in our house for the past 38 years. I post it here today at my son, Mikey's request. I love you, Colleen.

Riley and the Pies

On Thanksgiving, Riley wanted to have his picture taken with the pies. I got the idea to stand up on a stool to change the point of view which made this shot a little more interesting.

Ethan Skiing

It was late in the afternoon and Ethan had been practicing skiing at a hill near his house. I got a call from him saying "Grampy, want to see me ski?" I grabbed my camera and drove over the the hill where he and his dad were. This shot captured the sheer joy he was experiencing learning this new activity.

Watch for Runners!!

This was at the Provo Canyon Half Marathon a couple of years ago. I really like the blurred motion of the runners and the caution being shown by Riley, Michele, Sydney, and Michelle.

Little Boy and Piano Player

I was listening to this guy play the piano in Magic Kingdom when this little boy came up and stood there mezmerized by the music. I thought this shot kind of captured the moment.

Toes in the Sand at Castaway Cay

How does it get any better than this?

Bubbles in the Sunlight

I loved the way these bubbles looked in the sunlight. This sweet lady named Xenia had the "difficult" job of standing on a bridge by Cinderella's Castle at Disney World and blowing bubbles to the delight of all who passed by. She smiled and greeted anyone who happened to stop and watch.

Painted Toenails

What better portrait subject than the cute little feet of my daughter-in-law Karie! She was standing on a bridge where we were all looking down at the river below when I noticed the sunlight on her feet. I asked her to "smile" and then shot this "portrait."

A Stroll Up The Hill

We were at Sundance a few weeks ago and I noticed this couple walking up the road at the side of the ski run. The sun was in their faces and there were mainly grey tones in the shot. I decided to make it black and white. I like casual feel of the photo and the shadows the direct sun created. The sun almost makes a halo around them.

Short Track Pack 2

One more, just for fun.

Short Track Pack

I thought I'd put up another from the speed skating championships just because they were pretty cool.

Mikey, Mikey

I was experimenting with long exposures and hand-holding the camera so I got motion. This photo is NOT a double exposure.

Where's Ethan?

Ethan loves stuffed animals. Maybe this is when he began loving them. Colleen and I had fun "hiding" him among his friends.
