Epcot Center-Spaceship Earth at Night

Disney World at night is extraordinarily beautiful. Add Christmas decorations and it almost becomes color overload. Bring on the color! I can take it.

Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona

I loved this beautiful theater we walked by one evening on Las Ramblas in Barcelona, Spain.

Autumn Night

Last night I took this shot of a golden tree which was being backlit by a city street lamp. The time was 11:00 PM and there was a full moon lighting the mountain backdrop. The outer leaves of the tree are blurry due to slight movement because of a breeze. Camera settings were ISO 400, F5, 30 second exposure. I took the same shot 12 hours later. See the next post. Isn't light fun!

Alley in Norway

A little alley in Trondheim, Norway. What makes this shot more interesting is the fact that it was taken at 11:30 PM. Norway is the land of the "midnight sun."

On Deck at Night

This shot is a difficult one to get. It is a rare sight to be on this deck of the Disney Magic without any people. I took this late at night, obviously, just after a run for a cup of hot chocolate.

Owl Lamp

I love photographing interesting light fixtures. This one is in the Wilderness Lodge at Disney World in Florida.

Christmas Entrance at EPCOT

As you walk from Future World to World Showcase at EPCOT Center at Christmas time, you walk under this beautiful "light tunnel." A gorgeous, huge Christmas tree is at the end. The effect is magical.

Timp at Night

Last night at about 11:00PM, I noticed this view of Mt. Timpanogos from by backyard deck. It was almost a full moon and the tree was illuminated by the moon and the streetlight from across the street. I was getting into bed, but before I did, I took this 30 second exposure shot. If you click on it, you can see the stars. Night shots are fun with a digital camera.

Downtown Disney at Night

This was taken late one night as we were leaving Downtown Disney after a LONG day in the parks. I loved the reflections in the standing water on the ground. My camera was handheld without a tripod. Not perfect, but not bad.

Tunnel near Oslo, Norway

This was shot through the windshield of the car I was riding in--no I wasn't driving. Hand-held, slow shutter speed=blurred image=motion effect.

Christmas Window

The shops at Disney Studios go all out with color and creativity in their window decorations. A not so "hidden Mickey" was the inspiration for this Christmas Wreath.

Macaroni Grill

A simple neon sign, but cool colors and lines. This could have been most anywhere, but happened to be in Las Vegas.

Mount Everest

Well, it is actually Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom in Florida. The beautiful light and reflection in the lagoon at twilight was breathtaking.

Washington Monument at Night

This view of the Washington Monument is from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. This particular evening was perfectly still and very cold. I did have a tripod with me (which is a rarity). Without it, this photo would have been impossible. It was a two second exposure.

Neon Disney Logo

The cruise ship "Disney Magic" is especially beautiful at night. This neon logo is on one of the stacks on the top deck. Steady hand--no tripod.

Streetlight in Morocco

I love photographing interesting streetlights and neon. This one is in Morocco (at EPCOT Center in Florida).

Winter Snowstorm

One night a few years ago this snowstorm began. I wanted to get some night shots with light provided by streetlamps. I hopped in my car to try to find a good location. The City Library was the perfect place. This was taken late at night, handheld, out the rolled-down window of my car. I like the lone light that's on in one window.

Inner Harbor-Baltimore

This was taken near the Baltimore Aquarium at twilight. There is a moment after the sun goes down when these beautiful colors appear. Take a picture of almost anything and it looks good. The harbor in Baltimore helps it look better though!

Cinderella's Castle at Christmas

We were at Magic Kingdom after dark before Christmas this year when the castle began to light up. By the time it was fully lit there were over 200,000 LED lights blanketing the building. Again, I was without a tripod so I had to concentrate to hold as still as I could. The picture is pretty, but I can't tell you how beautiful it was in person. People simply stopped and stared as it lit up, and most just stood still and enjoyed the sight for the next 30 minutes or so. I took LOTS of shots. Here are two of them.

Cinderella's Castle 2

Another shot of the castle fromthe side. I liked the street lamp in the foreground.
