Glowing Sunflower

My wife pointed out this flower to me while we were on a little walk around a beautiful resort in Midway, Utah. I liked how the sunlight made it seem to glow. I also like the unusual angle of shooting it from behind. Pretty flower--pretty colors.

Sunflowers

We stopped in Heber City, Utah the other night to eat dinner. This grouping of sunflowers was in a vacant lot next to the parking lot where we parked. Luckily I had my camera in the back seat. I grabbed my camera and snapped this on our way into the restaurant.

Two Thistle Flowers

We were at this beatiful little campground called Shingle Creek on the way to Mirror Lake (in Utah) when I noticed these two perfect flowers only a few feet from the campfire. I played around with a few different angles, and settled on this shot.

Puffball at Sunset

I love puffballs. They are, I learned this evening, especially beautiful at sunset. I was trying to get a shot of Mt. Timpanogos with the golden light, but was not in a very good location to do so. I gave up and was walking back to the car when I spotted this puffball being backlit by the setting sun. All I had to do was lie down on my stomach and snap away.

Red Flowers

Some pretty, red flowers. This was somewhere in Florida--I can't remember exactly where. I love color. I love flowers.

Tulip

I'd like to say that we were walking in a park in Holland when I came upon this beautiful, open tulip. The truth is that this tulip was a gift from my son and daughter-in-law who bought it in Seattle at the famous Public Market. They brought it all the way home to us in their car, taking great care to preserve its freshness. This evening I took it outside on my back lawn and took this shot as the sun was setting.

Yellow Flower in Palermo

Just a beautiful yellow flower in Palermo, Italy. I don't remember exactly where it was. I must have just noticed it as we were walking along. It's almost perfect.

Water Lily Flower

We were walking on this little bridge over a pond covered with lily pads and blooming flowers while on a trip to Florida. It was late in the afternoon and I took a few shots with my lens at medium zoom. The deep shadows accentuate the detail of this beautiful flower.

Orange Flowers

Just some pretty flowers. You can't go wrong with colorful closeups and shallow depth of field.

Puffy Weeds Against a Blue Sky

These weeds on the side of the road in Provo Canyon looked especially pretty when I got down low and shot up so the blue sky was the background. The sunlight made them glisten.

Tulips in Skien, Norway

These tulips in the town square provided a gorgeous foreground. The trees, blue sky and white coulds were perfect for this shot.

Frog on a Lilly Pad

I was taking pictures of these lilly pads when this frog appeared almost on cue. He waited around for a minute, I got this picture, and he was gone.

Yellow Flower Among Violets

I loved this lone yellow flower in the entire meadow of violets. I shot this lying on my stomach.

I saw this grouping of flowers at EPCOT center in Florida. The afternoon sunlight made them look extraordinary.

Roadside Weeds

After an afternoon of taking pictures of fall colors near Sundance, I saw these weeds on the side of the road just past Canyon Glen in Provo Canyon on the way home. The sun was setting creating this glowing look when shooting into the sun. Even weeds can look pretty cool with the right light.

Simple Sunflower

I like the simplicity of this backlit flower against the blue sky.

Another Puff Ball

This "puff ball" was at the top of the ski lift at Sundance Ski Resort. Notice the little guy living right in the middle of it. You might have to click on it to see him.

We were driving back home from Cascade Springs and I saw this "puff ball" on the side of the road. I loved the detail and subtle textures. Click on it to see it larger.

I was just taking some shots of flowers when I found this little critter. This was in front of the Mormon Chapel in Hanalei, Kauai.
