The Lincoln Memorial is so striking--especially at night. This night it was not particularlly busy with people, so I could get an unubstructed shot. Tripods, however, are prohibited to be used on the monument itself (I know this from personal experience--I tried and was told to put it away). So again, I had to hand-hold the camera to get this shot.

I'm making a request that you post pic of Einstein. I'd say Iwo Jima, but I've never actually seen that monument.
Neat. You must not have gone late enough. I think I was there after midnight and nobody told me to put my tripod away.
